Scarpa is well known for producing the best traditionist, and most ageworthy Barbera in the entire Piedmont region. They started to bottle their single vineyard Barbera*, “La Bogliona”, in the 1960s. Located on soils with a high percentage of sand and magnesium (in Poderi Bricchi, Monferrato), the wine was aged in large botti with the same attention as a Barolo and Barbaresco.
