Collection: A boutique selection from Sicily
We have put together the finest wines from three boutique wineries from Sicily, including Etna. They are:
Buscemi, from Contrada Tartaraci, Bronte, North West Etna*
Vini Eudes, from Contrada Monte Gorna, Trecastagni, South East Etna
Meridio, from Ragusa, South Sicily
Buscemi is the creaction of Mirella Buscemi, the wife of Alberto Graci. Wines by Mirella are made at Cantina Garci with the same care and attention. Buscemi only has one red wine "Tartaraci" with the very limited production of 3,000 bottles in 2016 vintage. There are many resemblance between Tartaraci and Mirella husband's Barbaecchi Quinta 1000, both are from very old vines, high altitude single vineyards, and just outside of the legal zone of Etna Rosso!
Vini Eudes is a creation of Giovanni Messina and Laura Torrisi. Giovanni grows up in the nature of Monte Gorna , an offspring cone on Mother Etna. Following his father’s step, he returns to Monte Gorna after university to grow grapes and make wines. The 3 hectares Eudes vineyards practice organic farming, and stand at 750-770 meters above sea level, with some ungrafted nerello mascalese vines, planted 100 to 130 years ago. The vineyard is located at the mouth of Monte Gorna, where potassium and minerals are found, making complete, rich and very powerful wines that taste volcanic!
Meridio is founded in 2007 by geologists Gianni Salafia and Gaetano Luca, and Angelo Di Grazia whose passion is organic farming. They purchased this one-hectare plot of land near the most influential mentors and named it Meridio as it faces south, ‘meridione’ in Italian.
