Weingut Karl Haidle - Riesling of our Generation

Moritz Haidle is one of the biggest names within a whole new generation of young and exciting German winemakers.

Weingut Karl Haidle is located in the Remstal Valley near Stuttgart.  We are in the region of Würrtemberg in Southern Germany, but unlike almost all other portions of the Würrtemberg winegrowing district, this part of the region is  best known for its Rieslings. The Stettener Pulvermächer, a Grosse Lagen (aka Grand Cru) is the crown jewel of the winery and instrumental in Weingut Karl Haidle's early rise to prominence.

In recent years, Moritz decided to decrease his production of Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) and instead focus to make the best Lemberger (Blaufränkisch) in Germany. His wines have repeatedly earned Vinum's prestigious German Red Wine Prize (7 times first place).

Lemberger is also known as "Blauer Limberger" and "Blaufränkisch". In Germany, it is almost exclusively cultivated in Württemberg, where it accounts for about 16% of the total vineyard area compared with 1,9% in Germany overall.

Karl Haidle is one of the members of the VDP association, all wines have been organic and biodynamic certified.
