Sub-Region: Stetten Wine region
Style: Spätlese, off dry - 9.5% alc.
Notes: The Grosse Lagen STETTENER PULVERMÄCHER is a south-southwest slope with a gradient of up to 60% at an altitude of 330 to 360 m above sea level. The most valuable part of the location are the old stone terraces directly below the YBurg, which store heat particularly well. It is precisely in these stone terraces that the Riesling grapes of this Grosser Gewächs grow. The old vines have deep roots in very poor, slightly iron-rich siliceous sandstone soils.
This vineyard was first mentioned in 1450 and is considered the best-known Riesling vineyard in Württemberg. T he hand-picked Rieslings are gently pressed as whole grapes and then spontaneously fermented in traditional old wooden barrels. The wine matures on the fine lees for about a year. It is a fine, salty Riesling with pure minerality and a very long finish. It shows notes reminiscent of aniseed and fennel, and has a high aging potential.
