Deep ruby in colour. On the nose, the wine displays medium (+) intensity ripe red and dark fruit (cherries, blackberries, red plum), spices and wild flowers with subtle and well-integrated notes of oak. The wine has a medium plus body balanced by a fresh acidity. Tannins are fine-grained in texture.
Grape: Tempranillo
Place: San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Rioja Alta, La Rioja, Spain. Sourced from a 0,45 hectare plot planted in 1987, the bush vines grow over calcareous clay soils at an altitude of 480 meters above sea level.
Winemaking: The grapes were fully destemmed and hand-crushed during fermentation in open-top vessels. The wine aged for 13 months in French oak barrels where malolactic fermentation took place naturally.
